The Nor’easter of 2007

Wow, here it is, the first major winter storm of the season. I had to get some pictures, and its still just getting warmed up, the storm watch from the NWS still has about 20 hours left on it.

Here is looking out the back door at the driveway:

Here is looking out the front window (yes, there is a street there somewhere…):

And here is looking out a side window up the street, looking for some of the neighbor’s houses (seriously, people live over there somewhere:

When I Thought I Had Seen It All

I’ve been sitting here following the story of Gillian Gibbons, the British School Teacher who was imprisoned in Sudan for allowing her class of 6 and 7 year old children name a teddy bear “Mohammed”.  She was brought up on the following charges:

  • Insulting Religion
  • Inciting Hatred
  • Showing Contempt for Religious Beliefs

She was convicted only on the Insulting Religion charge, sentenced to 15 days in prison and subject to deportation immediately upon release.

During her trial and imprisonment, protesters gathered outside of the presidential palace in Sudan, denouncing Gibbons and calling for her execution.

What???

Armed with swords and sticks, the protesters shouted: “By soul, by blood, I will fight for the Prophet Mohammed. Western journalists who attempted to talk to the protesters were ushered away by men in plain clothes. (CNN.com)

These are the same people who will stand there and tell you all about their “peaceful” religion.  Yet if you so much as give a teddy bear one of the most common names in the Arab world, they want you to be executed.

Oh, how peaceful, how enlightened, how civilized, how so very 14th century of you.

Get a grip will you! It’s not like she sodomized your first born son with a stick. If this is your idea of a “peaceful” religion, you need some help.
